EV charging
EV Charger Installation in Snoqualmie
The unit is the simple part. Whether your service can carry it is the job.
Charging at home, sized honestly
Almost every EV charger we are called back to fix has the same history: a circuit run without anyone checking whether the service could carry it. It works until the heat pump and the dryer run together on a January evening. We start with a load calculation on your actual panel. On the Ridge that usually ends well — the panels are sound and the question is headroom. Downtown and along the river it more often ends with a conversation about the service entrance first. Either way you find out before you spend, not after. Our installation work on this carries a two-year workmanship warranty: if a connection we made is the reason something fails, we come back and there is no further labour charge.
What is included
A load calculation before any quote
What your service can actually support, worked out rather than assumed. It is the step people skip and the reason for the callbacks.
A dedicated 240V circuit
Correctly sized conductors and breaker, on a route planned through garage, crawl space or exterior wall rather than the shortest line on a drawing.
Mounting and termination
Fixed at a sensible height to something that will hold it, with the lead reaching the car on the side its port is on.
Permit and inspection
Filed, booked and met by us. EV circuits are inspected work in Washington and we treat them that way.
Worth asking before the car arrives
No spare double slot
Common in older downtown panels, occasional on the Ridge. There are usually options short of a full panel change — but you want to know which before ordering.
A heat pump is also on the list
Two large loads in the same year is exactly what load management exists for. Planning both together costs less than solving them one at a time.
The parking spot is far from the panel
Distance drives conductor size and therefore cost more than any other factor. We measure the real route.
You might move
Conduit and placement choices can make the unit far easier to take with you or relocate. Cheap to decide now, expensive later.
How the work runs
Open the panel
Service size, what is on it, how much room is left.
Run the calculation
A real number for what the house can carry, explained in plain terms with the options.
Walk the route
We agree where the unit goes and how the cable gets there, with you, before anything is cut.
Install and inspect
Circuit in, unit tested under load, inspector signs it off.
Questions about this work
Will I need a panel upgrade?
Often not. Plenty of houses here have the capacity and simply need the circuit. Where the service genuinely is too small, load management sometimes avoids a panel change entirely. The calculation decides it and costs nothing.
How fast will it charge?
That depends on the circuit size and what the car accepts. A 40 amp circuit adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range an hour for most vehicles — an overnight charge covers far more than a commute down I-90.
Can you fit a unit I already bought?
Yes. We will also tell you honestly if the one you bought is a poor match for your service, before we fit it rather than after.
